FAQ's for Teachers/Schools

If you are using a log in from the old site, it is possible likely that your registration has not been transferred. Could you please take a moment to re-register on the new site. ( no student details have been transferred across so all students will need to re-enter their details)

Failing the above, please do contact us and we will try to resolve the problem.

Use the teacher registration form from the menu bar at the top. Once you submit this you will be a member of Hofnote and able to log in using the password and email address entered here.

You will be able to register and enrol your own students.

You will be able to enter text for your own brochure page.

And you will be able to message your students and contribute to the teacher forum.

Yes, you can see the progress of all students who are linked to you.

Students will be automatically linked to you if you register them. But if they have enrolled independently, then we need their consent to link their records to you.

We need the students’ (or their parents’/carers’ consent before we can link them to you. Please ask your students to email us with their requests to link their enrolments to you. Or you can send us their details and we will ask them on your behalf.

The consent form is for you as a teacher to use to collect the information you need before registering new students. You do not have to use it, but it is your responsibility to ensure that you have your students’ or their parents’/carers’ consent before giving us their details. Having this form signed is evidence of their consent.

Your brochure page is what you want to tell others about yourself. A viewer does not have to be logged in to view it, but has to specifically request it either by searching for you by name and email address, or by entering the URL at their browser bar.

You are free to publicise the address if you would like to use it for promoting your music teaching, but you can also keep it private.

You can also insert a link to your own site from your brochure page.

If you would like potential students to be able to find your brochure page by searching for a teacher in their area, and for their instrument, then please drop us an email and we can ensure your details can be discovered by the searches.

There are two facilities which schools may want to use:

• Linking teachers to a Head of Department
• Purchasing a school licence

The head of department will be able to link other registered teachers to their registration.

They will then be able to view the student enrolments and student progress  for all the students enrolled by the different teachers.

The head of department  can purchase on behalf of the school a bulk quantity of Hoftokens in a single transaction. Linked teachers can then enrol students on courses throughout the year using credits from the Hoftokens and not have to process additional orders.

They can be used to enrol students onto any Hofnote courses.

 

No, the students can work on any computer linked to the Internet.

Teachers can set Hofnote for homework, and be able to review the students’ activity and results from their own log in.

Yes, depending on the quantity of Hoftokens bought, discounts apply.

No, the balance can be carried forward.

Yes, there are free apps for both android phones and iphone phones. You will still need to enrol online but then you can do your practise online or on your phone/pad. Wherever you do it all your progress results are stored together. Enjoy!

Do email or ring us as we can quickly check for you. It is better to contact us than to ask your teacher, and then they will have to contact us and you will have missed all that precious practising time! And we are pretty good at sorting things out :-)

The 'show me' option is for you to ask the system what the answer is. It does not look for your answer and so does not score your answers. So when you look at the score it will just record 1attempted but 0 right.

The 'submit' button is the one which scores your answer and will record right answers.

Use the student registration form from the menu bar at the top. Once you submit this you will be a member of Hofnote and able to log in using the password and email address entered here. You will need to register before erolling on a course.

Use your student log in details to log into your personal home page. Here you can enrol for a course using the link to ‘Enrol on another course’.

Yes, if you would like your teacher to see your progress, you can enter his/her email address on enrolment and you will automatically be linked to him/her.

If you decide after enrolling that you would like to be linked, then just drop Hofnote an email and we will link you to your teacher.

No, You can use Hofnote independently of your teacher. Hofnote will not link you to your teacher without your consent.

As well as doing your practice (which, of course, is the most important thing), you can see how you are doing and you can also use our special student facilities.

You can personalise your home page with a picture.

You can make a portfolio by uploading your own picture (it could be of yourself or of a scanned certificate); uploading your current favourite music clip and linking to any number of other places where you store information about yourself.

You can link to your friends and let them see your portfolio, and send them messages.

You will need to enter their details.

You cannot use Hofnote to search and find friends

And you can contribute to the forum.

You can only link to friends already registered with Hofnote.

To link you will need their name and their email address

No-one can use Hofnote to find friends.

No-one can make you their friend unless you want to be their friend.

You can upload your own picture which will show in your 'My Home' page and also at the top of your Portfolio. Upload this from a jpeg or gif file.

Also you can scan a copy of your latest achievement whether this is an exam certificate or a concert programme. Again it must be loaded from a gif or jpeg file.

You can also upload an MP3 file so you can record yourself playing or upload a favorite piece of music.

You can also link to any number of other site including Youtube which you would like to include in your portfolio.
